Somehow, it has been ten whole years today since I took the reins at the GFG! And what reins they are, bequeathed to me by our incredible founder Charles Cowling.
After babysitting me for a few years, and gradually easing himself out of the world of death and funerals and into a glorious future of watching cricket in God’s Own Country of Yorkshire, Charles made his exit, leaving things to be ‘wimmenified’ by the all female trio who now look after the Good Funeral Guide (his greatest fear!!) Hopefully it’s not turned out to be as bad as you dreaded Charles!
It’s been a fantastic ten years and we’ve achieved a lot, but one thing I’ve never cracked is keeping up with Charles’ extraordinarily prolific output of blog posts, which run to many thousands over the years, and were the reason so many people found the GFG.
Like so many others, I have always been in awe of Charles’s brilliant writing, and so today, (while I wait for delivery of a huge ‘Congratulations on 10 years’ cake and champagne to celebrate) we thought we’d have a dig through the archive and start a new series, reposting some of Charles’ posts from way back.
First one coming up shortly!
